Chairman’s Letter 2/1/2016

February 1, 2016

“There are three non-negotiables for social conservatives—life, marriage and religious liberty.[i]

Dear Friend:

It is a goal of Nevada Concerned Citizens to encourage as many people of faith as possible to participate in the Nevada Presidential Caucus and vote for a candidate that will uphold—–our values of life, marriage and religious liberty.

Need I say…  we are in trouble on all three counts.

Life

Planned Parenthood’s sale of fetal tissue and body parts is exposed and our congressional representatives failed to defund their efforts.  And if that isn’t bad enough… a grand jury in Houston tasked with investigating Planned Parenthood’s possible involvement in the sale of fetal tissue and body parts has decided instead to indict the messenger.  Only a culture of death would imagine ignoring the evidence and indicting the one exposing it. [ii]

Marriage

“Five justices on the Supreme Court have overturned the votes of 50 million Americans and demanded that the American people walk away from millennia of history and the reality of human nature.

“In reaching a decision so lacking in foundation in the text of the Constitution, in our history, and in our traditions, the Court has done serious damage to its own legitimacy.

“No court can overturn natural law.  Nature and Nature’s God, hailed by the signers of our Declaration of Independence as the very source of law, cannot be usurped by the edict of a court, even the United States Supreme Court.

“Marriage is rooted not only in human history, but also in the biological and social reality that children are created by, and do best when raised by, a mother and a father. No court ruling can alter this truth.

“It is folly for the Court to think that it has resolved a controversial issue of public policy. By disenfranchising 50 million Americans, the Court has instead supercharged this issue.” [iii]

Religious Liberty

Christians are being persecuted simply for living out their faith.

Aaron Klein has been fined $135K after refusing to bake a wedding cake for a lesbian couple.

The Odgaards were fined $5,000 last year and had to close the doors to their wedding venue   business, for not allowing a homosexual wedding.

Mrs. Stutzman, a floral shop owner, explained her Christian belief that marriage is between a man and a woman, and thus could not participate in a gay wedding.  Washington’s attorney general prosecuted her, pursuing not only her business but also Mrs. Stutzman personally.  A state judge has ruled against her, and she faces the loss of her life’s savings and even her home.

A Kentucky T-shirt maker is being sued for refusing to make shirts celebrating a gay-rights event.

An Idaho pastor couple was pursued for not actually performing a gay wedding.

Senior Master Sergeant Phillip Monk,  a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, has been relieved of his duties and discharged.  His openly lesbian commander ordered Monk to answer the question of whether people who object to gay marriage are discriminating. Monk said he could not answer the way she wanted.

Atlanta Fire Chief Kelvin Cochran was unjustly fired because of his religious beliefs, which included traditional marriage. [iv]

______________

Ancient Greek historian Thucydides admonished the Athenians about Pericles c. 490 BC when he said, “Just because you do not take an interest in politics doesn’t mean politics won’t take an interest in you.” [v]

Politics has taken an interest in the above list of persecuted Christians, aborted babies and the institution of marriage in a very negative way.

It’s time more people of faith take an interest in politics and we need your financial help to encourage them.

NCC is preparing a Presidential Caucus Guide to be distributed through churches across Nevada.  The Nevada Republican Caucus will be held on February 23 and the Democrat Caucus will be held on February 20th.  This is the first and last time I will mention the Democrat Caucus as not one democrat presidential candidate stands for our values of life, marriage and religious liberty.

Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.

                                                                                                         Proverbs 14:34

Therefore, NCC will not spend one cent of your donated dollar or one minute of anyone’s time on the Democrat Caucus other than to encourage a registered democrat to switch parties in order to support a Pro-Life, Pro-Marriage, Pro Religious Liberty candidate.

Too often voters attend their caucus not knowing where their candidate of choice stands on the non-negotiables for social conservatives—life, marriage and religious liberty.  Our job is to encourage them to participate and educate them to be an informed voter. We need to print and distribute tens of thousands of our Caucus Guides.

We need your most generous gift today in order to accomplish this goal.

Once the votes are counted at the Nevada Presidential Caucus, NCC will begin the vetting process for the primary election to be held on June 14.  The deadline for candidate filing is March 18th.

NCC sends out candidate questionnaires, conducts interviews and publishes a voter guide for both the primary and general elections covering Federal, State and local races.

I don’t have to tell you how important this year’s elections are. I’m sure you understand how critical it is that you and like-minded people in your sphere of influence take part in the political process and vote for those candidates that will uphold the basic principles that our state and nation were founded upon — those candidates who will fight for family, faith and freedom.

Millions of dollars will be spent by the campaigns and special interest groups between now and November 8th.  The airways will be full of distortion, misinformation and outright lies.

We need to place our Caucus Guide and Values Voter Guide into the hands of as many voters as possible, so that they will be informed voters.

Time is short.  Please send your most generous gift today.

Sincerely,

Richard Ziser, Chairman
