As one of the most historically intact, still operating gold and silver mining towns in Nevada, many buildings lining Eureka’s main street have been part of the Nevada story for more than 150 years, having weathered all kinds of things from natural disasters to rough-and-tumble lawlessness and more. Throughout this historic walking tour, listen to stories about the Eureka Historic District, including the Eureka Opera House, Eureka County Courthouse, Eureka Sentinel, the Jackson House Hotel, the labyrinth of underground tunnels that connected them to many other Eureka-area businesses, and the people who lived and worked them—some of which have never truly departed.
While Eureka Ghost Walks are available on most Fridays and Saturdays by appointment only throughout the calendar year, the Great Eureka Ghost Hunt is Eureka’s premiere ghost hunting event, happening in late October. This two-day event kicks off Friday night in the heart of historic Eureka, offering two days of paranormal activities and hunts, a paranormal photo contest, and more. For more information about the event and to make reservations, get in touch with event organizers at (775) 230-2232.
