Ready for Nevada’s premier wildlife photography event? Held each January in the heart of Carson Valley, this spectacular, once-a-year wildlife photography festival gives visitors and locals alike an uncommon opportunity to get up close and personal to raptors who visit Carson Valley each winter. As the furthest southern point on their migratory paths, golden and bald eagles, owls, and other raptors of all kinds can be found throughout historic century-old ranches in and around the Gardnerville, Minden, and Genoa area. Through a series of great wildlife photography and history tours, hear from multi-generation Nevada ranchers who’ve cared for 150-year-old Carson Valley ranches, learn about the raptors who live within, rub elbows with other wildlife lovers and photographers, and more at this very special Nevada signature event.

Carson Valley’s Audubon-sponsored weekend of tours, tastings, and teachings for photographers, birders, and wildlife lovers is a blast, in the field and at the table.

Typically held in late January, Carson Valley Eagles and Agriculture weekend kicks off with an opening reception and photography exhibit that makes for a great way to learn more about events happening over the next few days, all while surrounded by wildlife photography and other vendor booths, locally made cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, and many raptors and their handlers. Other weekend events include things like Wetlands Birding Tours, Raptor Highway Tours, various photography workshops and clinics, tours of historic ranches throughout Carson Valley, guided hikes through the River Fork Ranch, and the Falconers’ Dinner.

Unless otherwise noted, all events are held or depart from the CVIC Hall in downtown Minden. Interested in wildlife photography in particular? Aside from enrolling in the day-long photography workshops on Saturday and Sunday, enter your best birding shots in the annual Photography Contest. The Best Eagle Image and Best Agricultural/Wildlife Image each promises a $125 cash prize. Tickets tend to sell out quickly, so be sure to reserve your spot at this premiere wildlife viewing event ASAP! To get your hands on tickets, and learn more about how to submit to the photography contest, click here or get in touch with the Carson Valley Visitors Authority directly at (775) 782-8144.
